Sloughhouse 4-H
Dec 20, 2025
The Sloughhouse Alta Mesa 4-H group kicked off their 2025-2026 season in September with an Ice Cream Social and is excited to offer the following projects: Beef, Cloverbuds, Cooking, Dogs, Livestock Judging, Meat Goats, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Rabbits, Sheep, and Swine.
Our Club was awarded the 2024 Golden Clover Award for Civic Engagement at the County 4-H Awards Ceremony in October. The Civic Engagement Award recognizes a member, volunteer, group, and/or staff member for contributions that demonstrate living the definition of civic engagement; "Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference."
Civic engagement has always been important to the Sloughhouse 4-H Club and this fall we held several events to support our community. This year we held a food drive at our November Club meeting and donated it to the Elk Grove Food Bank. In December our members brought toys to donate to the for Chips for Kids Toy Drive.
This spring we plan to do a community outreach event called AG Day. AG Day will allow the community to come and learn about agriculture and 4-H. Stay tuned for a date!
