Elk Grove FFA has had a remarkable fall semester marked by achievements in competition, community involvement, and leadership.

September and October were busy months for Elk Grove FFA members, with the annual Third Grade Field Day being held on September 23rd and 24th. Students worked together to create agricultural demonstrations in the weeks leading up to the event, which they then presented to nearly 1,200 third-grade students from the Elk Grove Unified School District. Third Grade Field Day is a memorable event for many EGUSD students and often incentivizes those who have attended to enroll in agricultural education classes in either junior high or high school. Elk Grove FFA members learn agricultural literacy through hosting this event, and can apply that newfound knowledge in their future careers.

To end the month of October, over 20 Elk Grove FFA members attended the National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. Elk Grove FFA had students compete in Agriscience and the Tarleton State Quiz Bowl Invitational, as well as Farm Business Management, Marketing Plan and Nursery Landscape Career Development Event teams. This year's National Convention was especially memorable to those who went because former Elk Grove FFA member Abigale Jacobsen served as National FFA’s Western Region Vice President! The chapter cheered Abigale on at sessions and made posters to show their California pride.

The new agriculture building has had a largely beneficial impact on the school’s FFA chapter. As of this year, construction was completed on a campus wing to house many of the EGHS agricultural education classes. These modern classrooms are fitted with features such as chemical hoods, stoves, and large sinks; all to expand the range of scientific exploration within the classroom.

As the semester comes to an end, Elk Grove FFA reflects on these successful events and accomplishments and looks to future achievements.
